A drummer and bugler of 2nd Royal Battalion (Ludhiana Sikhs), 11th Sikh Regiment, Waziristan, 1936 (c)
Photograph, Waziristan, India, North West Frontier, 1936 (c).
During this period the battalion was part of the Nowshera Brigade and saw much service in Waziristan against the warlike Pathan tribes led by the Faqir of Ipi. Throughout the 1930s, there were more troops stationed in Waziristan, in the southern part of the North West Frontier, than in the rest of the subcontinent combined.
From an album of 50 photographs associated with 2nd Royal Bn (Ludhiana Sikhs), 11th Sikh Regiment, 1920-1937.
