A sowar of the 10th Duke of Cambridge's Own Lancers (Hodson's Horse), 1908

Watercolour drawing by Alfred Crowdy Lovett (1862-1919), 1908.

In 1908 the 10th Lancers were stationed at Jullundur, having arrived there in December 1906 from Cawnpore. The regiment then consisted of one and a half squadrons of Sikhs, one squadron of Dogras, one of Punjabi Musalmans and half a squadron of Pathans.

This is the original artwork for an illustration in Major G F MacMunn's 'Armies of India', published in 1911.
