Africa General Service Medal 1902-56, with clasp for 'BCA [British Central Africa] 1899-1900'
This medal was awarded to Sepoy Jiwa Singh, 15th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry (The Ludhiana Sikhs). The Africa General Service Medal was one of the longest running service medals and issued for minor campaigns in Africa between 1902 and 1956.
The ribbon on this medal is that for the Ashanti Medal, 1900, which Sepoy Singh also received. It is likely that the two medals were received together and an error was made when the ribbons were attached.
