Medical chest, 1795; made of solid oak, original trays are missing and the lid is hinged with two brass hinges and bears a lock; brass handles on either side are fixed to ornate base plates; a brass plaque on the lid is inscribed, 'Hugo/ Surgeon 85 Regt'; the chest is not dated, but the only Surgeon Hugo listed in the 85th Foot is an uninitialled one for 1795.
