Infantry Officer's sword, 1795 (c); blade is curved, fullered and spear pointed; knucklebow guard and stool are of one piece and a curled side bar joins the knucklebow to the stool; possibly an ebony grip with an engraved metal plate; leather scabbard with the retailer's name engraved on the mouthpiece, Goldneys, late Neild; the National Maritime attributed the ownership of this weapon to a Capt Robert Knox, however, as no Naval officer of the period had that name, it is likely to belong to a Thomas Knox, Grenadier Guards 1794-1796, this would also be consistent to the badge on the hilt. Band sword, 33rd (1st Yorkshire West Riding) Regiment, 1830-1850; blade is fullered and spear pointed; mameluke hilt, with a lion's head pommel, bearing the Regiment's number; two rings, one on the pommel and one on the quillon indicate that there was originally a chain guard on the hilt. Indian Army Infantry officer's sword, pattern 1822; blade is engraved with the name of the maker, Harman and Co, and inscribed with the dedication to Kaka Ram in 1892, one side in English the other in Hindi; steel guard; leather covered service scabbard; sword was found by the King George V's Bengal Sappers and Miners after the action near Chakdara Fort, North West Frontier.
