I was at that time acting GSOI of [1 Armd Div] ([the] GSOI Lt.Col Bromhall had been taken prisoner in his service during our retreat). They appear to be Dutch General staff maps presumably taken by this German when they occupied Holland. 1 Arm Div was at that time withdrawing into then Carentan Peninsula prior to embarking at Cherbourg where it had landed a month previously'.All maps originally contained in metal case.
