1st (or Royal) Regiment of Foot Medal for Gallantry 1812; silver medal awarded to Pte John Frederick Miller for distinguished service at the siege of Badajoz, 1812; inscribed on medal, 'FORLORN HOPE/ 5 APRIL/ BADAJOS [sic]/ 1812'; Pte Miller, who was born in Germany, served with the Argyll Fencibles before joining the 1st Regiment of Foot; he served with the regiment from 1805-1815 and survived to claim the Military General Service Medal with 3 clasps.
