The letters cover the period November 1855-May 1856, and relate chiefly to claims by officers, NCOs, and men for compensation for the loss of horses, baggage, necessaries, etc during the campaign in the Crimea. A small proportion refer to other financial matters such as pay, and the effects of deceased officers.
