Embroidered panel; 3rd Indian Division, 1945 (c); executed by Charles Edward Stannard, Essex Regiment who served in the 3rd Indian Division, the Chindits, in Burma 1944; Mr Stannard embroidered a number of these panels when in hospital in India. The 'Bert' referred to in the legend is Bert Worne, also of the Essex Regiment and a Chindit who served alongside Mr Stannard. Mr Worne's widow, Mrs Florrie Worne gave this panel to the Allan Collection on VJ Day 1988, in memory of both her husband and Mr Stannard. From the Burma Campaign Collection of R Moffatt.
