Hat band or brassard used by charity flag sellers associated with the 2nd Battalion, Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment) in response to the Relief of Ladysmith, 28 Feb 1900, Boer War (1899-1902). According to vendor this piece of ribbon was a brassard used by flag sellers for the Regimental charity. The length of the ribbon, however, suggests a hat band. Uniforms 1998-10-257
Officer's sword, 51st Foot, 1809 (c); blade is curved, flat backed, spear pointed and double edged for the last 10 in; steel stirrup guard; wooden grip, covered with fish skin or sharkskin; scabbard is steel encased wood, inscribed with the maker's name, Tatham; this sword belonged to Lt Benjamin Buck Hawley. Band sword, 33rd (1st Yorkshire West Riding) Regiment, 1830-1850; blade is fullered and spear pointed; mameluke hilt, with a lion's head pommel, bearing the Regiment's number; two rings, one on the pommel and one on the quillon indicate that there was originally a chain guard on the hilt.
