Dieppe, August 1942

Troops of the Canadian Calgary Regiment advancing up the beach, supported by a Churchill Mk 3 tank carrying deep wading equipment during the Dieppe Raid. The objective of the raid was to seize and hold a major port for a short period and to gather intelligence while assessing the German responses. The operation was a military disaster in terms of casualties and equipment lost.
