French 8 mm M1892 revolver, 1895 (c)
This revolver was presented to the Chief of the General Staff, General (later Field Marshal) Sir John Chapple by General GIlbert Forray, his French counterpart, in June 1990. Forray (1930-2017) was a veteran of the wars in French-Indochina and Algeria and also participated in the Gulf War (1990-1991).
The M1892 service revolver, produced by Manufacture d'armes de Sainte-Etienne, was standard issue for French officers in the First World War (1914-1918).
