Horse cheek boss, Bombay Body Guard, 1901-1947
Bi-metal boss with an elaborate monogram, 'BBG', surmounted by a crown.
Each of the three main presidencies, Bombay, Madras and Bengal had body guard regiments. The Governor's Body Guard of the Bombay Presidency was formed in 1865, drawing on men from the disbanded Southern Mahratta Horse. It was disbanded when India gained independence from Britain, in 1947.
