Button, 2nd Punjab Regiment, 1922-1947
Large brass button by Hobson and Sons Limited, London, with regimental number, '2', surmounted by crown, with title, 'Punjab', above, and 'Regiment' below.
The 2nd Punjab Regiment was formed in 1922 from the merging of the 67th Punjabis, the 69th Punjabis, the 72nd Punjabis, 74th Punjabis and the 87th Punjabis.
The 2nd Punjab Regiment saw service in Abyssinia, Malaya, Burma and Italy during World War Two (1939-1945). With the Partition of India in 1947, the Regiment became the Punjab Regiment, part of the Indian Army.
