Button, 69th Punjabis, 1903-1922
Small, brass button by Hobson and Sons, London, with regimental number, '69',on flat ground.
The 69th Punjabis had its origins in the 1760s with the creation of the 10th Coast Sepoys which evolved into the 9th Regiment Madras Native Infantry. The 69th Punjabis were formed in 1903 and became the 2nd Battalion 2nd Punjab Regiment in 1922.
The 69th Punjabis served in the Middle East, Gallipoli and on the Western Front during World War One (1914-1918).
