Shoulder title, 9th Jat Regiment, 1922-1947

Brass badge, one of two, in the form of the regimental number, '9', above a curved title, 'Jats', surmounted by a King's Crown.

The 9th Jats were formed in 1922 from the amalgamation of the 6th Jat Light Infantry, 119th Infantry (The Mooltan Regiment), 10th Jats, 18th Infantry and the 2nd Battalion, 6th Jat Light Infantry. The regiment was formed as part of a major reform of the Indian Army. The regiment saw action in the North Africa and the Far East during World War Two (1939-1945).
