Button, officer, mess dress, 9th Jat Regiment, 1922-1947
Small, bi-metal button by J R Gaunt and Son Limited, London, with the regimental number in Roman numerals, 'IX', with a scroll below bearing the title 'Jat Regiment', and a King's Crown above.
The 9th Jats were formed in 1922 from the amalgamation of the 6th Jat Light Infantry, 119th Infantry (The Mooltan Regiment), 10th Jats, 18th Infantry and the 2nd Battalion, 6th Jat Light Infantry. The regiment was formed as part of a major reform of the Indian Army. The regiment saw action in the North Africa and the Far East during World War Two (1939-1945).
