Cap badge, 2nd Battalion 70th Burma Rifles, 1917-1922
Bronze badge with male Burmese peacock displaying, on crossed dahs (Burmese swords), with the regimental number, '70'.
The 2nd Battalion 70th Burma Rifles was raised in December 1917 in Burma during World War One (1914-1918). The unit took up garrison duties in the Middle East after the end of the War. In 1922, when the 70th and the 85th Burma Rifles were amalgamated, the Battalion became the 2nd Battalion 20th Burma Rifles.
