Gilt, medium-sized button made by P and S Firmin, London, with the regimental number, '32', within a garter, inscribed, 'Bhurtpore', within a wreath.

The 32nd Bengal Native Infantry was raised in 1798 as the 1st Battalion 16th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry. The regiment served in the Bhurtpore campaign (1824-1826). In 1861, following the Indian Mutiny (1857-1859), the regiment, which remained loyal to the British, became the 3rd Bengal Native Infantry.
