Hat badge, Lumsden's Horse, 1899-1902
Brass badge in the form of a unit monogram.
Lieutenant-Colonel Dugald Lumsden formed the Indian Mounted Infantry Corps, or Lumsden's Horse, in Calcutta in 1899, to fight in the Boer War (1899-1902). Recruits were drawn from Lumsden's Assam Valley Light Horse and other Indian units.
