Shoulder title, Oudh Light Horse, 1887-1904
White metal badge in the form of the initials of the regimental title, 'OLH'.
Oudh was a princely state in northern India, annexed by the British in 1856. It was only after the Indian Mutiny of 1857-1859 that British control became established. The state was merged with the North Western Provinces and eventually became part of Agra Province in 1904. The Oudh Light Horse was formed in 1887 from the Oudh Volunteer Rifle Corps. It was amalgamated with four other auxiliary units to form the United Provinces Light Horse in 1904.
