Helmet badge, Bombay Rifle Volunteer Corps, 1877-1907
White metal badge with the unit's monogram 'BRV' surmounted by a separate crown.
The Bombay Volunteer Rifle Corps was formed in 1877. Rules of the Corps stated that volunteers should be British or Eurasian, respectable and 'of good character', and, unless joining as cadets, should be aged 16 years or older and of a height of 5 foot 2 inches or above.
