Button, Bombay Volunteer Rifles, pre-1901
Circular brass button by Firmin and Sons Limited, London, with bugle horn surmounted by crown, encircled by the unit title.
The Bombay Volunteer Rifle Corps was formed in 1877. Rules of the Corps stated that volunteers should be British or Eurasian, respectable and 'of good character', and, unless joining as cadets, should be aged 16 years or older and of a height of 5 foot 2 inches or above.
