Collar badge, Nilgiri Volunteer Rifles, 1901-1917
White metal badge in the form of a stag's head under a bugle horn.
The Nilgiri Volunteer Rifles was formed as an auxiliary unit in 1878. It amalgamated with the Coimbatore Volunteer Corps in 1892 and with the Malabar Volunteer Rifles in 1917, forming the 20th Nilgiri Malabar Battalion. It then became the Nilgiri Malabar Battalion in 1920.
