Cap badge, South Indian Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps, 1895-1901

White metal badge in the form of a Maltese Cross surmounted by a crown, with an elephant within a circlet bearing the unit title, 'South Indian Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps', with lion supporters between the arms of the cross.

The South Indian Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps was an auxiliary unit formed in 1884. In 1917 it became the 29th South Indian Railway Battalion. In 1920 it dropped the number from its name.
