Pouch belt plate, Simla Volunteer Rifles, 1904-1920

Raised as the 2nd Punjab (Simla) Volunteer Rifle Corps on 2 May 1861, in 1904 the unit was renamed the Simla Volunteer Rifles. On 1 April 1917 they became the 4th Simla Rifles then in 1920 they were redesignated Simla Rifles. A number of cadet units were attached to the Simla Rifles. The unit's motto was 'In Defence'.
