Button, 6th Bengal Native Cavalry, 1800-1819

Small, full ball button by C Jennens, London, with regimental number, '6', in the centre and the title 'Native' above, and 'Cavalry', below.

The 6th Light Cavalry was raised as the 6th Bengal Native Cavalry in 1800. Its battle honours included, 'Laswaree', 'Seetabuldee', 'Bhurtpore', 'Punjab', Chillianwalla' and 'Goojerat'. The regiment mutinied in 1857 while stationed at Jalandhar in the Punjab.
