Pouch belt plate, Sibsagar Mounted Rifles, 1884-1891
Silver pouch belt plate with Guelphic Crown over a wreath encircled Maltese Cross with a bugle horn in centre and unit name.
The Sibsagar Mounted Rifles was a volunteer corps based in Assam. Originally founded on 29 January 1884, it became the Sibsagar Mounted Infantry on 30 April 1886. The name reverted back to the Sibsagar Mounted Rifles on 15 February 1889 before being amalgamated into the Assam Valley Mounted Rifles on 6 November 1891.
