Cap badge, Lakhimpur Volunteer Rifle Corps, 1882-1888

Brass badge with Imperial Crown over a garter bearing the unit motto, 'Defence not Defiance', enclosing a centre with the unit's initials, 'LVR' over 'Assam'.

The Lakhimpur Volunteer Rifle Corps was raised on 3 November 1882 as a volunteer corps based in Lakhimpur, Assam. It was renamed the Lakhimpur Mounted Rifles on 27 July 1888 before being amalgamated into the Assam Valley Mounted Rifles on 6 November 1891.
