Ghazipur, a centre for opium production in British India, is a town in what is now the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The Ghazipur Volunteer Rifle Corps was formed in 1879, becoming the Ghazipur Light Horse in 1887. The unit was amalgamated along with other auxiliary units to create the United Provinces Horse in 1904.
