The Assam Valley Mounted Rifles was an auxiliary unit formed on 6 November 1891 in North-East India. It was an amalgamation of the Lakhimpur Mounted Rifles, the Sibsagar Mounted Infantry, the Sibsagar Mounted Rifles, the Darrang Mounted Rifles, the Nowgong Mounted Rifles, and the Gauhati Rifles. The name was changed to Assam Valley Light Horse on 25 September 1896.
