Sabretache used Major Thomas Everard Hutton, 4th (Queen's Own) Light Dragoons, 1854 (c)

The light dragoons, in common with all British cavalry other than the hussars, had been ordered to dispense with their sabretaches before sailing to the Crimea, and Hutton would not have taken his.

Hutton took part in the Charge of the Light Brigade during the Battle of Balaklava on 25 October 1854. He was shot through the right thigh during the advance of the Light Brigade and on returning from the Russian guns was again severely wounded through the left thigh.
