White metal badge with the centre bearing the crest of the East India Railway Company, a sword, a lion rampant, a harp and an elephant, within a garter inscribed with the motto of the unit, 'Strong without Rage', surmounted by a crown.

The East Indian Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps was an auxiliary unit formed in July 1869 as part of the British Indian Army's Bengal Command. It drew on civilian staff of the East Indian Railway and its headquarters was at Jamalpur, the location of the East Indian Railway's locomotive workshops. The unit was amalgamated with the Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway Battalion in 1926.
