Wool serge battledress resembled workman's overalls, it was worn by the British Army from the 1930s to the 1960s. It was usually worn in cooler climates.

From a collection of 1701 photographs taken by Gale and Polden, Aldershot, showing British regiments and corps, including uniform, kit layouts, mascots, tattoos, portraits of monarchs and soldiers and ceremonial photographs, including the 1937 and 1953 Coronations.
